![]() Preceded in death are her parents Aquillio and Viviana Medina, first husband, Pete Munoz, her son, Petey Munoz, sisters Rosie (Aurelio) Ochoa, Martha (Filemon) Salazar, Felicita (George) Ortega, Sally Moncivais Garcia (Manual and Marion), Carmen (Martin) Munoz brothers, Tommy Medina and David Medina sister-in-law Mary Rios and brother-in-law, Lee Rios. Ben devoted his life to taking care of her until her death. ![]() In December, 2014 she was diagnosed with the beginning stages of Alzheimer’s. Janie loved sports but she was passionate about her Texas Aggies and Dallas Cowboys. In 1979, Janie opened her home-based bakery and decorated cakes for the community until the age of seventy-five when she retired for health reasons. In 1974 she continued her career at Texas A&M MSC Student Center as a cake decorator at which time she met and later married Ben Rios on December 13, 1976. They were happily married for twenty-one years until his untimely death in 1973. She learned the art of cake decorating working alongside Gertrude Congdon. Janie began her career at the age of fifteen at Congdon’s Bakery as counter staff. She was born into a family of six sisters and three brothers. ![]() Janie was born in Wheelock, Texas on Mato Aquillio and Viviana Medina. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers, Bryan-College Station. ![]() Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9 am, Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Santa Teresa Catholic Church.
